Believing Is Seeing!

Ice Breaker: Can You Believe It?
Think about something you cannot see but know is real. You cannot see the wind, but you can feel it. You cannot see love, but you can recognize loving actions. Faith means trusting God even when we cannot see everything with our eyes.
Who Was Thomas?
Thomas was one of Jesus’ twelve disciples. He loved Jesus and was willing to follow Him into danger. Thomas also asked honest questions when he did not understand. After Jesus rose from the dead, Thomas had trouble believing because he had not seen Jesus for himself.
Questions Can Lead Us to Jesus
John 14:5-6
Thomas asked Jesus how the disciples could know the way. Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Thomas’s question led to an important truth about Jesus.
Youth Lesson
It is okay to ask respectful questions. Bring your questions to God in prayer, read the Bible, and ask trusted Christian adults for help.
Thomas Missed the First Visit
John 20:24-25
Jesus appeared to the disciples after He rose, but Thomas was not there. When the others told him, he said he needed to see Jesus’ wounds before he would believe.

Jesus Met Thomas With Peace
John 20:26-27
Jesus returned when Thomas was present. He said, “Peace be unto you,” showed Thomas His wounds, and told him to believe.

Jesus knows when we are confused or afraid. He wants us to come closer, learn the truth, and trust Him.
Thomas Chose Faith
John 20:28-29
Thomas answered Jesus, “My Lord and my God.” Jesus said that people who believe without seeing Him are blessed.

We have not seen Jesus walking on earth, but we can believe because of God’s Word, the Holy Spirit, and the ways Jesus changes lives.

Prayer
Dear Jesus, thank You for loving us when we have questions. Help us learn from Your Word and trust You even when we cannot see everything. Give us peace, make our faith stronger, and help us say with Thomas, “My Lord and my God.” In Jesus’ name, Amen.
